There’s a really interesting environmental event coming up next week that I think your members would be interested in, could you pass it on?
Also, there’s an opportunity for a short speech, perhaps encouraging people to get engaged with environmental activism. Do you know anybody who might like to speak?

Next Thursday, Urban Village is hosting a special kind of party. The bar has agreed to install low energy lighting in the bar with twenty percent of the money they take.
It is the launch event for the “9carrots” campaign which gives businesses a positive incentive to take action on climate change. By using the scheme to engage businesses in a non-confrontational way, the People and Planet group hopes to start an ongoing dialogue about sustainability. In March, Kings Heath Transition are planning to launch a larger scheme involving a dozen local businesses. Groups have also recently started in the USA and Canada.
The evening will be opened by the comedian Richard Higgs, followed by the superb soul-funk band Route 49. Entry is free and it starts at 8pm. Open to all - come down and show your support!

A soul-funk soundtrack will be provided by Route 49. The event is part of People and Planet’s “Go Green Week” and is the launch of their “9carrots” campaign to give businesses a positive incentive to take action on climate change. Entry is free, Jagerbombs are £1.50 and the fun starts at 8pm. Open to all - come down and show your support!

This concept is called “9carrots” - businesses making themselves more sustainable using a portion of the extra sales from 9carrots promotion. Any business can join and progressively builds up extra sales over time to invest in green upgrades.“The 9carrots project is a way of connecting your community to its supply chains, production methods, employment and financial decisions by creating an ongoing dialogue between people and business. Then, together, your community can start making changes it needs become resilient to peak oil and Climate Change.” - Tom Tierney, Kings Heath Transition Initiative
