Stopped by, wanted more information
- jan, 2011by anewholmDear <name>,
I stopped in to your shop recently to let you know about a new marketing strategy I am promoting called 9carrots. This program uses GIS mapping to help customers find business that are working to reduce their CO2 footprint and support them in their efforts.

9carrots offers a unique way for community and business to co-operate in the fight against climate change, while also working to increase economic localisation. Retailers choose upgrades that will make their business more energy efficient. We advertise them and consumers support them in reaching their goal. Each business commits 10% of the extra revenue they make from the extra 9carrots customers towards their target upgrade. To learn more, check out the how it works section on the 9carrots site.
Important Facts to consider about 9carrots:
- it's absolutely free (it's volunteer-driven and grant funded)
- you'll get more customers
- there's no risk: if you don't get more customers then you don't need to do anything
- you make an extra $1000 sales before you invest $100 in reducing your energy bills
- don't have to fix an exact target value now, just an estimated cost
- you only have to commit to invest 10% and only if we are successful in helping increase revenue
- energy prices are always going up, so it makes sense to protect yourself from that
- the receipt book system means you don't even have to monitor or think about anything extra
If you would like to schedule a sign-up consultation, or a meeting to receive more detailed information about this program, please contact me.
Thank you,

Popped in, wanted help to try and choose an upgrade
- jan, 2011by anewholmDear Wendy,
Thanks for meeting with me <when> about 9carrots. I have been looking into what resources are available through existing programs to help you decide on an energy efficiency goal to put on your 9carrots contract, so we can feature you on our map and start sending you customers who want to help you reach your goal.
Here's what I have come up with:<some suggestions>
<optional>
As you will notice, most of it is focused on equipment purchasing, which you have indicated is not an option you are considering at this time. Also, they are not currently offering the kind of energy assessment services that are available to residential customers. What they do offer is a self-assessment form that you fill out on your own and send to them, and then they call you back in a couple of weeks and offer recommendations. I have attached this form.

The more positive news I have for you relates to the Solar PV project you mentioned that you are considering. <solar panel provider> provides a very convenient pricing index for Solar Electricity Systems. Using this as a guide, I think it would be possible to arrive at a ball-park figure for what you would need to save up to make this happen, which is all you would need for us to put you on the 9carrots map. I have attached this list for you as well.
Here is also a listing of Solar Electric Installers whom you could consult with to get a better idea of the exact costs for what you have in mind:

I hope this information will be useful in helping you to choose an energy efficiency upgrade that we can highlight to promote <business name> on the 9carrots website. I will check back with you in the near future to see if you have made a decision on this. In the mean time, if you have any questions, or if you would like any assistance working with the forms I have provided, please feel free to contact me.
