Why should I support 9carrots?

9carrots makes it easy to fight climate change, every time you shop. Every business that has signed up to 9carrots is committed to reducing their energy consumption. For example, some shops want to switch to low-energy lighting, or purchase a more efficient freezer. But they need your help to make it happen!

How does it work?

Each business has made a simple promise: whenever you shop there, they'll put a portion of the money towards an energy-efficiency project. For example, say you and your friends spend £100 on a meal. The restaurant owner puts £10 aside to spend on low-energy lighting. As soon as they've saved up enough money, they'll buy the bulbs.

Do I have to pay more?

No, you pay exactly the same price as normal. The business will put some of the money you spend towards the energy-efficiency project, instead of keeping it as profit.

What's in it for the business?

The business gets extra customers because we promote them on the 9carrots website. It's only these purchases made by the extra customers from 9carrots that count towards the target. Of course, once they reach the target and buy their energy-efficient thing, they'll also get energy bills.

How does 9carrots make money?

9carrots is a non-profit organisation that is run entirely by volunteers.

How do I get started?

Just find a business on the map, go there, buy something and ask for 9carrots vouchers. It's really important you get the vouchers, so we can tell how much you spent and count it towards the business' target.
